Socialism goes west as DSA-backed challenger ousts longtime Democrat

Rep. Diana DeGette, D-Colo., a 30-year incumbent, lost to a Democratic Socialists of America (DSA)-backed challenger in a high-profile primary on Tuesday evening. Melat Kiros, a 29-year-old socialist, defeated DeGette in a Democratic primary for a deep-blue House seat anchored in Denver, according to The Associated Press, scoring a major victory for the socialist left on Tuesday evening. The DSA had been aiming to cast DeGette’s loss as evidence of its growing momentum after a slate of socialist candidates won Democratic primaries in New York City last week. "Today, the East Coast, next week the Mountain West," the DSA wrote in a social media post last week. SOCIALISTS CHEER ‘SHOCKWAVE’ PRIMARY NIGHT AS DSA-BACKED CANDIDATES WIN, ADVANCE ACROSS THE MAP If elected in November, Kiros, who was born in Ethiopia, will likely join the ranks of the far-left group known as the Squad and become one of a handful of the House chamber's outspoken socialists.  The millennial challe...

Pranzo shortly before 9 a.m. Police were called to the elementary and middle school, and authorities are now working to identify the deceased individual. The city’s medical examiner removed   the remains and will determine the cause of death. MYSTERY OF REMAINS FOUND INSIDE SLEEPING BAG IN OLYMPIC PARK SOLVED AFTER 26 YEARS It is unclear how long the remains had been there or how they ended up in the chimney. No students or staff were in the building when the remains were uncovered, as school ended for the summer on Friday and the school was closed for construction, police said. Contractors had been working on the building over the last few days, and police are now trying to confirm whether all the workers have been accounted for, according to the New York Daily ...

How American engineers unlocked the impossible beneath the Gulf of America

July 4th is more than marking America’s independence with patriotic flags, parades and fireworks. It's about celebrating American ingenuity , our firm belief that our country can engineer solutions to achieve the impossible, from launching the modern age of aviation to landing a man on the moon. Some of the most compelling evidence of American exceptionalism today is happening thousands of feet beneath the surface of the Gulf of America , where our offshore industry has spent more than a decade solving one of the hardest engineering problems in the history of energy. More than 100 miles offshore from the Gulf Coast sits a geological layer of sandstone and shale rock deep beneath the seabed called the Paleogene that holds tens of billions of barrels of oil. For years, most of it was considered unattainable. The reservoir pressures – up to 20,000 pounds per square inch, equivalent to an elephant standing on a quarter – exceeded anything existing technology could handle. No equipment...

A California dog rescue hid a grim secret: more than 100 dogs buried beneath it

Remains of more than 100 dogs were discovered buried at a California animal rescue sanctuary, according to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with local, state and federal authorities, began investigating Miranda’s Rescue Animal Sanctuary in Fortuna after receiving a tip in April about alleged animal abuse, animal cruelty, fraud and conspiracy, according to deputies. Last week, the sheriff's office announced that 117 intact dog remains were recovered from two dig sites. An additional 21 canine skulls, hundreds of bones and six loose microchips were found in another dig location near the area where the intact animals were discovered. Authorities later said they were continuing to review microchip data and other evidence from the scene. UK asylum seekers could have to pay government $13K before applying for settlement

People granted asylum in Britain could have to repay the government about £10,000, roughly more than $13,000, for accommodation and basic living support before they can become eligible to apply for settlement, officials announced on Monday. This comes as immigration has become one of the most important issues in British politics, consistently ranking among voters' top concerns in polling. Under the proposed rules, the government says repayments would be means-tested and limited to adults above an income threshold. Officials say safeguards would be included to prevent people from being pushed into extreme poverty, though key details of the threshold and enforcement mechanism have not yet been published. FARAGE SAYS MASS MIGRATION HAS CHANGED THE UK ‘LITERALLY BEYOND RECOGNITION,’ BELIEVES PARTY CAN WIN ELECTION The rules would not be applied retrospectively and children would not be subject to the payments. Democratic socialism is sweeping the nation. Voters should be alarmed

Democratic socialism is sweeping the nation. All three of the far-left candidates backed by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani won their primary races. Elections in Washington, DC vaulted another self-described "democratic socialist" into the national spotlight. What does it mean when our nation’s capital and the Empire City vote in democratic socialist candidates ? The clearest answer is to look at what democratic socialists elsewhere have claimed — and done. Seattle’s mayor, Katie Wilson, is a self-described democratic socialist who has argued for defunding the police and led campaigns targeting private property owners. MAMDANI'S POLITICAL EARTHQUAKE ROCKS DEMOCRATS, DIVIDING PARTY ON PATH FORWARD Seattle has a history of revolutionary politics. Mississippi law could create statewide registry of undocumented immigrants

A new Mississippi law set to take effect this week will allow the state's top law enforcement agency to compile a list of all illegal immigrants living in the state, alarming immigrant advocates who fear it could be a new tool to target immigrants as part of President Donald Trump's mass deportation plan. The law, which will go into effect on Wednesday, states that the state Department of Public Safety "may use all reasonable lawful investigative means available" to determine the number of illegal immigrants residing in Mississippi and their identities, including by collecting their names, addresses, country of origin and whether they are an adult or child. The department may also list any criminal history and the date, location and status of deportation proceedings. The agency is instructed to share information on immigrants suspected of violating laws with state and local authorities. ‘GHOSTS’ ON FLORIDA HIGHWAYS: ROADSIDE STINGS SNARE 249 ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS, OFFIC...

Efforts to find a Marine who went missing from the USS Anchorage during integrated training off the coast of Southern California turned to a recovery mission, according to Navy officials . The Marine was aboard the ship as part of the training with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit based at Camp Pendleton and the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group. The search began on Thursday before it later turned into a search and recovery operation on Friday, featuring three surface ships and 12 aircraft from the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Air Force. Bill Clinton reveals how he feels about upcoming midterms after socialist victories

Former President Bill Clinton expressed confidence in Democrats' prospects after three socialist candidates won key New York primaries, stating he believes the Democratic Party is in "good shape" to be successful in November’s midterm elections.  "I think we’re in good shape for the fall," Clinton told Fox News Digital when asked about the outcome of Tuesday’s elections.  The victories by three far-left candidates backed by the Democratic Socialists of America who won their respective races on Tuesday — Darializa Avila Chevalier, Brad Lander and Claire Valdez — have fueled debate within the Democratic Party over whether these progressive campaigns offer a winning blueprint heading into the midterm elections and a legitimate roadmap to national success for the party. 2028 hopeful fires back at Elon Musk after trillionaire threatened lawsuit: 'Not going to be silenced'

Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., brushed aside threats of legal action from Elon Musk , the trillionaire founder of SpaceX and Tesla, on Thursday. "This is what he does," Khanna told Fox News Digital outside the U.S. Capitol. "It’s symptomatic of our times that billionaires — and now [a] trillionaire — can threaten to sue members of Congress for doing their job. He won’t intimidate me. I’m not going to be intimidated by the guy. I’m not going to be silenced by the guy," Khanna said. Minnesota man captured in Somalia after allegedly helping orchestrate $250M child nutrition fraud scheme

A fugitive accused of helping orchestrate a $250 million Minnesota fraud scheme that exploited a federal child nutrition program was captured this week in Somalia after nearly four years on the run, federal authorities said. Abdikerm Abdelahi Eidleh, 42, of Burnsville, Minnesota, was taken into custody Thursday in Mogadishu, Somalia, according to the Justice Department. Prosecutors allege Eidleh was one of the architects of the "Feeding Our Future" fraud scheme , which authorities have described as one of the largest fraud cases in Minnesota history. Archaeologists in Israel uncover 1,700-year-old Roman-era statues buried face down

An archaeological excavation in Israel recently revealed ancient faces that haven't been seen in centuries. Two statues were discovered near Binyamina, Israel, according to a June 15 press release from the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA). Archaeologists were digging ahead of construction of a coastal high-speed railway when they found two marble statues in the wine collection pit of a Roman-Byzantine winepress, the IAA said. RARE 1,600-YEAR-OLD MOSAIC FROM CHRISTIAN MONASTERY UNVEILED AFTER CENTURIES OF OBSCURITY The statues, which date back around 1,700 years, depict two unknown figures from the ancient Greco-Roman world . One of the statues bears a Greek inscription with the name "Lycurgus," according to officials. Michael Sorotskin, an IAA archaeologist who helped find the statues, called the discovery "simply wondrous." "While digging the winepress, something was sticking out of the ground, and the workers called me," said Sorotskin in the rele...

New Mexico AG launches criminal investigation into DEA over allegations agents let fentanyl flood state

New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez on Friday announced a criminal investigation into allegations that the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) knowingly allowed hundreds of thousands of fentanyl pills to reach New Mexico communities while agents pursued larger criminal investigations. The inquiry comes days after The Associated Press reported that DEA agents repeatedly monitored—but did not seize—large fentanyl shipments between 2023 and 2025 while attempting to build broader criminal cases. Torrez said the investigation will examine potential legal remedies, including criminal prosecution, civil litigation and structural reforms intended to prevent similar conduct by DEA agents in the future. "The families who have lost children, siblings, and parents to fentanyl deserve the truth about what the federal government knew and what it failed to do," Torrez said in a statement. I was lucky enough to escape Cuban socialism. America’s 250th reminds me why

As America prepares to celebrate its 250th birthday, I find myself reflecting not only on this nation's remarkable journey , but also on my own. I was born in Cuba under a socialist system that promised equality and prosperity but delivered scarcity, repression and limited opportunity. At 16, my family left the island and embarked on a difficult journey through Central America in search of something millions around the world still seek today: freedom. My story is not unique. It is part of a larger American story repeated for generations. Immigrants from Cuba, Venezuela, Eastern Europe and countless other places have come to the United States not because it is perfect, but because it offers something rare in human history: the freedom to build a better life through hard work, personal initiative, and individual liberty. As we approach the semiquincentennial of the United States, Americans should consider a simple question: Why do people flee socialist societies and risk everythin...

Marina Mabrey ties WNBA single-game scoring record with 53 points in Tempo's historic win

For the third time in WNBA history, a player has scored 53 points. Toronto Tempo star Marina Mabrey tied the single-game scoring record with 53 points in a dominant 125-94 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday night. Only A’ja Wilson and Liz Cambage have reached that 53-point mark before Mabrey. Mabrey, who poured in nine three-pointers in the win, helped the Tempo set the highest point total scored in a regulation game in WNBA history. The Phoenix Mercury scored 127 points in a 2010 game, though it was double overtime. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM Mabrey was clearly feeling it in this game, scoring 27 points by halftime. Then, she poured in 12 more by the end of the third quarter, giving herself an incredible 39 points. With the game seemingly out of reach, it was clear that the Tempo were feeding Mabrey in hopes that she could set a new WNBA record. Mabrey was launching three-pointers and drilling them, and she ultimately reached the 53-point mark as...

Team USA falls to Türkiye in final seconds, still set for round of 32 match vs Bosnia and Herzegovina

The United States men's national soccer team lost its final Group D match to Türkiye, 3-2, as Kaan Ayhan scored on the final shot of the game in a crushing blow to the home country.  The only, and more important, caveat: this game never affected the United States' chances of winning the FIFA World Cup in the first place. Yes, Team USA was trying to take momentum into the round of 32 next week, and even make history for the country as the first team to win three World Cup matches. Instead, it's some slight heartbreak in Los Angeles. Knicks parade attendee who dumped trash on sidewalk identified as JPMorgan Chase DEI exec, promptly fired

The New York Knicks winning the NBA Finals was a tremendous accomplishment for the organization and its players, while also bringing a joyous end to the team's long championship drought for fans. It was also an excuse for those same fans to engage in some, well, typically New York behavior in the aftermath and celebrations. Particularly during the celebratory parade that went down the city's "Canyon of Heroes" corridor on June 18. Fans climbed atop cars, garbage trucks and just about any elevated surface for a better view. But nobody attracted more attention than a woman who spotted a Knicks-colored trash can and promptly dumped its contents onto the street. Democrats' new-wave socialists are winning primaries but face a harsh reality in general elections
