Alabama Gov Kay Ivey hospitalized following minor procedure, says she is determined to make speedy recovery

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey, a Republican, was hospitalized on Tuesday after undergoing a minor procedure to remove fluid that was pressing against her lung, according to her office. Ivey, 81, will be monitored at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery in the coming days out of an abundance of caution, a spokesperson for the governor said in a statement. The fluid was discovered on Tuesday when the governor went to her doctor because she was feeling discomfort in her left side and recently experienced some shortness of breath. "For the last three weeks, Governor Kay Ivey has experienced some discomfort in her left side," the statement said. "After monitoring the pain and recently feeling slightly short-of-breath, she made the decision to be seen again by her primary care physician earlier today." 'Pioneer Woman' reveals simple omelet trick to cut breakfast prep time as expert raises concerns

You've heard of cooking steaks sous vide , but one beloved chef says a similar method works for eggs — and tried it herself. Ree Drummond, the Food Network host also known as the "Pioneer Woman," recently cooked an omelet in a plastic bag placed in simmering water. "I am really excited to try this," Drummond said in a YouTube video posted March 18. LEFTOVER HACKS EXPLODE ON SOCIAL MEDIA AS AMERICANS FIGHT HIGH PRICES WITH SCRAP FOOD FEASTS The celebrity chef began by using a heat-safe plastic bag and preparing the ingredients. "The good news is I'm not making a huge commitment by just making one omelet in a bag," she said while chopping a tomato. "It's nice to experiment with things like this before you really go whole hog." After cracking the eggs into a bag, Drummond began to whisk them together with a fork. "I sure don't want to pierce a hole in the bag," she said in the video . "And then everything jus...

The chair of the Hernando County, Florida , Democratic Party was arrested for allegedly hitting a man in the head with a bullhorn during a "No Kings" protest over the weekend. Brian Stewart, 63, was charged with simple battery and booked into the Hernando County Jail after the incident on Saturday. He was released later that day, jail records show. Deputies responded at around 10:30 a.m. to the intersection of Mariner and Cortez boulevards, where Stewart allegedly struck a disabled veteran — identified as Thomas Michta in police reports — in the head with a bullhorn. Interactive tool reveals which states stand to lose billions in education funding

FIRST ON FOX: States that decline to opt in to the Education Freedom Tax Credit (EFTC) could forgo nearly $23 billion in education funding over the next three years, according to a new analysis from the America First Policy Institute . To highlight those potential losses, the group will launch an interactive Funding Loss Calculator designed to show how much each non-participating state stands to lose in charitable donations tied to the federal tax credit program.  GET RID OF THE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT. Dem senator warns deportation could let Virginia woman's illegal immigrant killer 'escape accountability'

Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., is calling on prosecutors to try, convict and punish the undocumented killer of Stephanie Minter, arguing that he must face American justice before he’s ordered to leave the country. Kaine said he fears deportation could be a form of leniency. "I’m not sure that if he’s deported, [that] he will really face the punishment that he should face. If you do a deportation now, what’s the guarantee he would really face severe consequences for what he’s done?" Kaine said. "I think he should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and then possibly deported after that, but I wouldn’t want him to escape accountability for the crime." TRUMP ADMIN ASKS SPANBERGER, VIRGINIA OFFICIALS NOT RELEASE ILLEGAL CHARGED WITH GROPING HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS Authorities are charging Abdul Jalloh, a 32-year-old Sierra Leone native, with the murder of Stephanie Minter after authorities found her dead at a bus stop in Fairfax, Virginia last month. US allows Russian oil tanker to reach Cuba amid blockade as Trump says island ‘has to survive’

The U.S. government will allow a Russian tanker full of crude oil to reach Cuba , effectively easing a blockade that has pushed the island into an energy crisis, according to a report. The Russian-flagged tanker, the Anatoly Kolodkin, was headed for Cuba on Sunday, carrying an estimated 730,000 barrels of oil, The New York Times reported, citing a U.S. official who had been briefed on the matter. The tanker Anatoly Kolodkin was just off the eastern tip of Cuba on Sunday, ship tracking data showed. "We have a tanker out there. We don’t mind having somebody get a boatload, because they need … they have to survive," President Donald Trump told reporters on Sunday when asked about the report. CUBA'S ENTIRE ELECTRICAL GRID COLLAPSES, LEAVING WHOLE ISLAND WITHOUT POWER "If a country wants to send some oil into Cuba right now, I have no problem whether it’s Russia or not," he added. Trump had sought to restrict oil shipments to Cuba in an effort to pressure it...

Supreme Court prepares to review Trump executive order on birthright citizenship

The Supreme Court is poised to answer a fundamental constitutional question largely ignored for more than a century: Who qualifies as an American citizen? The justices on Wednesday will hold oral arguments to review President Donald Trump's efforts to limit birthright citizenship in the U.S., a landmark case with the potential to upend the lives of millions of Americans and lawful residents. At issue is the executive order the president signed on his first day back in office, which would end automatic citizenship for nearly all persons born in the U.S. to undocumented parents, or parents with lawful temporary status in the country — a seismic legal, political, and social shift that critics note would break with more than 150 years of legal precedent.  A ruling is expected within three months but until then, Trump's plans remain on hold. HOW TO MAKE PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP'S IMMIGRATION PAUSE STICK IN COURT The case is the fourth of a five-part series of appeals the Su...

Woman helping cancer-stricken friend executed in alleged carjacking attack: 'Heard a scream'

A Texas woman is dead after being shot in an alleged carjacking while visiting her cancer-stricken best friend.  Marietta Allison traveled from Austin to Houston to accompany friend Cassie Daniel to her second treatment for stage 4 ovarian cancer on Saturday, March 7.  Following a day at the hospital in which Allison took care of Daniel as she received a round of chemotherapy, the pair of friends left around 10:30 p.m. to spend the night at a nearby friend’s house.  When there was no parking at the building, Allison dropped Daniel and her father off and circled the block to find somewhere to leave the car.  REPEAT OFFENDER WITH 20-PLUS PRIOR CHARGES ALLEGEDLY KILLS 23-YEAR-OLD IN HIT-AND-RUN, THEN WALKS AWAY "We were putting our things away, and I heard a scream and then a gunshot," Daniel told Fox News Digital. Cruz refuses to take sides between Cornyn, Paxton in high-stakes GOP Senate clash

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz is staying neutral in the combustible GOP Senate nomination showdown in Texas between longtime Sen. John Cornyn and state Attorney General Ken Paxton. "I like John. I like Ken. They're both friends of mine. I have supported both of them in the past. I've worked closely with both of them. I've endorsed both of them. I've campaigned with both of them, and so I'm staying out," the conservative firebrand three-term senator said in a Fox News Digital interview on Wednesday. The winner of the May 26 Republican runoff election will face off with Democratic nominee state Rep. James Talarico in this autumn's general election in a race that's among a handful which may decide if the GOP keeps its Senate majority in the midterms. The GOP currently controls the chamber, 53–47. BRUISING GOP SENATE PRIMARY SHOWDOWN HEADS INTO OVERTIME Cornyn edged Paxton by a point in the March 3 primary, as they were the top two contenders among a...

DC court rulings stall Trump agenda across immigration, policing, Fed — raising stakes on executive power

President Donald Trump's second-term agenda is hitting repeated roadblocks in Washington, D.C., federal court, where judges have halted major policies — fueling a growing clash over whether the judiciary is checking executive power or overstepping into it. The rulings have halted key parts of Trump’s agenda on immigration, policing and federal authority, intensifying debate over whether courts are acting as a constitutional check or obstructing elected leadership. Here are some of the biggest court clashes Trump is facing in D.C. federal court. One of the biggest fights is also one of the earliest lawsuits filed against the Trump administration in D.C. federal court  — centered on the Trump administration's use of the Alien Enemies Act , a 1798 wartime law, to deport certain migrants to El Salvador's CECOT prison. Civil rights groups and immigration advocates have argued the Trump administration is stretching the law beyond its intended use case, including the three pr...

Dem senators dodge crucial question on illegal alien accused of killing Chicago college student

While Republican senators, like Texas' Ted Cruz and Florida's Rick Scott, were quick to condemn the policies that kept the illegal immigrant killer of 18-year-old Sheridan Gorman from being deported, Democratic senators dodged questions on whether Gorman's killer should have previously been deported prior to this month's murder. Gorman, who was a student at Loyola University of Chicago at the time of her death, was allegedly killed by an illegal immigrant from Venezuela, Jose Medina, 25. Medina was apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol on May 9, 2023, but was subsequently released into the U.S. under the Biden administration, according to Trump's Department of Homeland Security.   A short time later, Medina was arrested for shoplifting in Chicago, but was again released on June 19, 2023, DHS said. A judge put a warrant out on Medina after he failed to appear in court for his shoplifting charge, which was still active at the time of Gorman's killing, according to ...
