Federal judge rules Trump admin plan to cut FEMA workforce in half is unlawful

A federal judge ruled that the Trump administration's directive for the Federal Emergency Management Agency to cut its workforce in half was unlawful. U.S. District Judge Susan Illston found on Friday that the Department of Homeland Security acted unlawfully by taking control of FEMA's authority over its own personnel and pushing the agency to slash thousands of disaster-response jobs. Although FEMA is under DHS, a federal law adopted after Hurricane Katrina in 2005 states that the department "may not substantially or significantly reduce (FEMA's) authorities, responsibilities, or functions." Illston said the department violated the law last year when it sought to stop FEMA from renewing the temporary contracts of thousands of on-call reservists who respond to disasters. John Harbaugh's Giants on full display in bruising win over Cowboys to kick off NFL season

For months, the talk throughout the tri-state area had been about this new era for the New York Giants . How could it not be, as John Harbaugh, after almost two decades with the Baltimore Ravens, signed on as the next Giants head coach. It was a post he said he felt pride assuming, understanding the expectations and pedigree he was supposed to bring back to a prestigious franchise that had been reeling until his arrival. Well, the Harbaugh era kicked off in the best way possible for Giants fans on Sunday night, as they took down the Dallas Cowboys , 28-20, in the hard-nosed fashion that was to be expected with this new regime. From the very beginning, the Giants’ defense forced a three-and-out and got a sold-out MetLife Stadium crowd on their feet as Jaxson Dart and company took the field for the first time in 2026. What ensued was a 10-play, 83-yard drive that took 6:13 off the first-quarter clock and resulted in a Cam Skattebo touchdown. While Harbaugh may not have enjoyed Skattebo’...

Arch Manning and Texas Longhorns erase 20-point deficit to stun Ohio State in shocking comeback for the ages

AUSTIN, TX - Well, I don't know if Texas is back, but they darn sure made a statement on Saturday night against No. 1 Ohio State in one of the craziest college football games in recent memory. Actually, this was about as ugly as it could get for the No. 4 Longhorns football program, at least for three quarters of this thriller. For a year, we had been looking forward to this rematch between two of the top-spenders in college football, with Texas spending around $40 million on its roster this season. Saturday night did not disappoint. TEXAS VS OHIO STATE IS MORE THAN A REMATCH: A BBQ-FUELED COLLISION BETWEEN COLLEGE FOOTBALL POWER BROKERS Led by Cam Coleman, Trey Wingo and a flurry of offensive weapons, the Longhorns looked more like a mediocre football team for three quarters. Then the Buckeyes could no longer convert, allowing Texas to take advantage of a worn-down Ohio State team. The first offensive play of the game for Texas turned into a fumble. From there, Ohio State toyed...

COMPLETE PRO WRESTLING COVERAGE ON OUTKICK Omos picked up the victory against Mysterio, despite the WWE Hall of Famer giving him a run for his money toward the end of the match. After multiple bearhugs, Omos chokeslammed Mysterio and pinned him for the win. But Omos was far from finished. He put the hurt on Mysterio after the fight and continued to lay the smackdown on his opponent even after the bell rang. MIKE PENCE: Remember the fallen — and the generation that defended America since 9/11

On September 11 , 2001, shortly after the terrorists struck the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, I walked across the street to the Capitol, swimming against a sea of pandemonium. Later, I joined other members in the basement of the Capitol Hill Police headquarters for a briefing on what we knew — and what might happen next. Former Governor Tom Ridge, then serving as President George W. Bush’s homeland security adviser , told us, "The only thing we know for sure is that they want to hit us again, and they want to hit us worse."
