A man was charged with multiple hate crimes after allegedly disrupting Shabbat services at a New York City synagogue Friday, striking a congregant and attacking a member of the security team, authorities said. Murder suspect Isabelle Johnson was arrested Thursday following a weeks-long multistate manhunt spanning Florida, Georgia and Alabama, authorities said. A U.S. Marshals task force arrested Johnson, 38, at a home in Cottondale, about an hour west of Tallahassee, according to the Walton County Sheriff's Office.  She was wanted on a murder charge in the death of Jason Coulthart, whose body was found buried in a shallow grave in Florida on June 25. A new Mississippi law added sexual battery of a child under 12 to the list of crimes eligible for the death penalty. Senate Bill 2821, which took effect July 1, creates the crime of "capital sexual battery" and allows prosecutors to seek the death penalty against defendants 18 or older in qualifying cases involving victims younger than 12. If a defendant is convicted, the jury must unanimously find at least two specific aggravating factors beyond a reasonable doubt before the defendant is eligible for the death penalty.
