New York’s Stop-Mamdani movement may fall short for Andrew Cuomo despite Eric Adams endorsement

There was Andrew Cuomo , at Madison Square Garden, yukking it up at a Knicks game. What was the ousted governor so happy about? He’d just come from the final New York mayoral debate, where he landed some blows against front-runner Zohran Mamdani , but he’s still on track to lose the election. Ah, but the appearance at an NBA game (the league suddenly tainted by a gambling scandal that includes the Mafia!) – was a photo op, with Mayor Eric Adams, who endorsed his onetime rival yesterday. So what if he called Cuomo "a snake and a liar" last month? ANDREW CUOMO CAMPAIGN WALKS BACK CONTROVERSIAL ATTACK AD TARGETING MAMDANI VOTERS Yet Adams, who had been indicted on corruption charges–until the Trump Justice Department dropped the case–was down in the single digits. So his backing may not move many votes, though it could give Cuomo some street cred in the Black community and among Orthodox Jews. New York City politics is a game of nine-dimensional chess, with shifting allia...

Sparks fly as Cuomo, Mamdani tear into each other during fiery debate: 'Toxic energy'

Front-runners for New York City mayor, Zohran Mamdani and Andrew Cuomo, wasted little time attacking each other on alleged personal scandals they have been involved in during a Wednesday night debate between the pair and GOP candidate Curtis Sliwa.   Mamdani and Sliwa took the opportunity during Wednesday's debate to drill down on past sexual harassment allegations against Cuomo, the former governor of New York, ahead of an impeachment inquiry that preceded Cuomo's 2021 resignation. Cuomo was also hit by Mamdani over accusations he has – while in public office – failed to meet with Muslim constituents and only began doing so amid pressure from his mayoral campaign, and over his alleged poor handling of the COVID-19 virus in New York after Cuomo was party to issuing guidance forcing nursing homes and long-term care facilities to admit COVID-19 positive patients. Meanwhile, Cuomo did not hold back on targeting Mamdani over alleged controversies that have embattled his campaign...

Alabama death row inmate insists innocence, urges governor to meet him before nitrogen-gas execution

An Alabama death row inmate, who insists he is an "innocent man," asked Republican Gov. Kay Ivey to meet with him before the state puts him to death later this week. Anthony Boyd, 53, is scheduled to be executed on Thursday evening by nitrogen gas at the William C. Holman Correctional Facility for capital murder in the 1993 burning death of Gregory Huguley. Boyd, who has maintained his innocence, made the request to meet with the governor in a recorded message played during a news conference hosted by the Execution Intervention Project and his spiritual adviser, Rev. Jeff Hood. "Before an innocent man is executed, come sit down with me and have a conversation with the guy you deemed one of the worst of the worst," Boyd said. ALABAMA INMATE'S EXECUTION STAYED TO DETERMINE IF HE IS COMPETENT ENOUGH TO BE PUT TO DEATH However, Boyd said if Ivey believes he is being deceptive or evasive during their meeting, "then please carry out the sentence." ...

Selective outrage: Trump, Democrats mainly denounce the other side’s scandals

The group chat was racist as hell. Black folks were called "monkeys" and "the watermelon people." The group chat was also utterly anti-Semitic . "I love Hitler." Kill them in gas chambers. "I’m ready to watch people burn now." JD VANCE TELLS DEMS OUTRAGED OVER YOUNG REPUBLICANS' LEAKED GROUP CHAT TO 'GROW UP' Oh, and there were jokes about rape ("epic"). And a slur against gay people, involving actions by cows. That reporting by Politico – based on 2,900 pages of leaked chats by the Young Republicans organization – has caused a national uproar. But JD Vance dismissed it as a "college group chat" and says "kids do stupid things, especially young boys."  In fact, these were young adults under the age of 40 (according to the rules), working as political strategists and government staffers. Vermont state Sen. Sam Douglass apologized and resigned, saying he had to protect his family in the face of d...
