Government shuts down after Congress deadlocks on spending deal

The federal government is officially entering a partial shutdown on Wednesday after the midnight funding deadline passed with Democrats and Republicans failing to agree on a funding bill. An earlier attempt by Senate Republicans to pass a short-term extension of fiscal year (FY) 2025 government funding levels, called a continuing resolution (CR), was sunk by Democrats who were furious about being sidelined in shutdown negotiations. The bill, which would have given Congress until Nov. 21 to set FY 2026 funding priorities, passed the House largely along party lines on Sept. 19. The Senate is expected to vote on the same bill again on Wednesday, with more votes to come through the rest of the week and into the weekend until either a deal is struck or Democrats relent.  House Republicans have been away from Washington in order to pressure the Senate to pass their bill. House Democrats, however, returned this week in a bid to paint a contrast between themselves and the GOP. SHUTDOW...

Turning Point Utah stop marked by resilience and heightened security

Nearly three weeks after the assassination of Charlie Kirk , Turning Point USA returned to Utah for a stop on its "This is The Turning Point" campus tour . Fox News Digital visited Utah State University for the event and spoke with attendees. Attendees began lining up as early as 3 p.m. for the 6:30 p.m. event. Security was significantly heightened compared to previous events, including officers and personnel stationed at every corner, snipers positioned on multiple rooftops, drone surveillance overhead, K9 units, metal detectors, bag checks, and a strict no re-entry policy once inside the venue. UTAH STUDENTS LIFT VOICES IN PRAYER AT VIGIL FOR CHARLIE KIRK’S CHRISTIAN LEGACY: 'FELT CALLED BY GOD' CHARLIE KIRK BUILT A MOVEMENT. NOW, THESE CONSERVATIVE INFLUENCERS ARE CONTINUING HIS LEGACY "There is a lot of fear right now due to the amount of violence, but I do think that more of us need to stand up," said Utah State student, Gavin. Trump, Democrats locked in endless cycles of payback after Comey indictment and targeting president's enemies

Let’s roll back the clock. After the 2020 election, Donald Trump found himself the target of multiple investigations. The flimsiest, and most partisan, was brought by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, who somehow elevated the Stormy Daniels payoffs from a misdemeanor to a felony, and got a conviction. Then there was Jack Smith, who launched two investigations — one involving classified documents, the other on allegations related to Jan. 6. And in Georgia, Fulton County DA Fani Willis investigated Trump’s famous phone call to Brad Raffensperger — "I just want to find 11,780 votes" — and some of Trump’s lawyers, such as Sidney Powell and Jenna Ellis, pleaded guilty. DEMS NOT BUDGING ON GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN DEMANDS AHEAD OF HIGH-STAKES TRUMP MEETING, JEFFRIES SUGGESTS Beyond that, New York AG Letitia James filed a civil suit about inflated property values that led to a fine that has since grown to half a billion dollars — a penalty so outrageous that an appeals court threw it out ...

DOJ lawsuit claims Minnesota sanctuary policies allow 'dangerous criminals' to avoid removal

The Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against Minnesota over its sanctuary policies that the Trump administration says interfere with the federal government’s enforcement efforts on illegal immigration.  The complaint, filed Monday, names the State of Minnesota , Hennepin County, Hennepin County Sheriff Dawanna S. Witt, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, and the Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, as defendants.  The complaint argues that not only are sanctuary policies illegal under federal law, but lead to the release of dangerous criminals who would otherwise be subject to removal, including illegal immigrants convicted of serious crimes.  "Minnesota officials are jeopardizing the safety of their own citizens by allowing illegal aliens to circumvent the legal process," Attorney General Pamela Bondi said in a statement. "This Department of Justice will continue to bring litigation against any jurisdiction that uses sanctuary policies to defy federal ...

Broncos demolish Bengals to get back in win column as Bo Nix shines at home

The Denver Broncos got back in the win column, handling the Cincinnati Bengals, 28-3, at home on Monday night. The Broncos and Bengals are now 2-2 through the first four weeks of the season, though the latter isn’t looking too hot after yet another brutal offensive performance with backup quarterback Jake Browning at the helm for the injured Joe Burrow.  Browning was just 14-of-25 for 125 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in a performance that came after just 10 points scored in a loss to the Minnesota Vikings this past week – his first filling the starting role for Burrow.  CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM Credit has to go to the Broncos’ defense, though, as they were able to sack Browning three times and force nine straight third-down stops against the Bengals to end the season. Cincinnati was just 2-of-11 on third down, with the only two successful ones coming on the opening drive. Meanwhile, Bo Nix and the Broncos’ offense looked good at ho...

What will be Tyler Robinson’s defense strategy? Experts weigh in on accused Charlie Kirk assassin

Tyler Robinson's new defense attorney has an uphill battle representing the accused assassin of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk , experts say. "The goal for his new high-profile defense attorneys in the Tyler Robinson case is going to be keep him off of death row," said Maryland attorney and legal analyst Randolph Rice, who is following the case. "And that's probably their goal right now, or at least that's what they're thinking about." One option would be to seek a plea deal that spares Robinson from the potential death penalty, like Bryan Kohberger 's defense in the Idaho student murders. That could be months or even years down the line. TIMELINE OF CHARLIE KIRK'S ALLEGED ASSASSIN FROM CAMPUS SHOOTING TO SHERIFF'S OFFICE SURRENDER If the case does go to trial, prosecutors will have to prove that Kirk's murder included aggravating factors that warrant execution if the suspect is found guilty. "What the defense may b...

Prince Philip’s notorious straight talk and unfiltered opinions were feared by palace staff: royal butler

Prince Philip was known for firing off swear-filled remarks — and palace staff quickly learned to keep up. Grant Harrold, King Charles III’s former butler, has written a memoir,  "The Royal Butler: My Remarkable Life in Royal Service." In it, the etiquette expert described how he overheard "a few choice words" from the late Duke of Edinburgh at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in 2018.  "Once all the formalities were over, we watched as the happy couple, and then the other members of the royal family, filed out of the chapel," Harrold wrote. "When Prince Philip came out, he turned to the queen and said, ‘Thank f--- that’s over.’" PRINCE HARRY AND MEGHAN MARKLE’S WEDDING DAY SPARKED PROFANE REACTION FROM PRINCE PHILIP: BOOK Archewell, which handles the office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, told Fox News Digital they had no comment. Harrold told Fox News Digital it wasn’t the first time Queen Elizabeth II’s husband was blunt . ...

Trump admin revokes Colombian president’s visa over alleged ‘reckless and incendiary actions’

The Trump administration announced late Friday it is revoking the U.S. visa of Colombian President Gustavo Petro over alleged "reckless and incendiary actions" in New York City.  "Earlier today, Colombian president @petrogustavo stood on a NYC street and urged U.S. soldiers to disobey orders and incite violence," read a post on the U.S. State Department's X account. "We will revoke Petro’s visa due to his reckless and incendiary actions." Fox News Digital has reached out to the Colombian embassy but did not hear back before publication.  TRUMP UNLEASHES US MILITARY POWER ON CARTELS. IS A WIDER WAR LOOMING? The visa revocation comes on the heels of the annual meeting of the U.N. General Assembly in New York City this week.  Videos circulating online show the Colombian president addressing a crowd gathered at a demonstration against Israel and its prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, who was in New York City Friday to address the assembly.  TRUMP ...

DEA in Atlanta using new lab to process federal drug seizures as fight against cartel heats up

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in Atlanta has a new tool in its fight against one of Mexico's most notorious cartels. The DEA Atlanta Field Division opened a new lab in May to process all federal drug seizures in Georgia. The lead DEA agent in Atlanta said the lab is already making agents more efficient as they go after the violent "Cartel Jalisco New Generation (CJNG)." In the past, the DEA in Atlanta would call in chemists from labs in other cities to test drugs, a process that took a few days to complete. Now that the lab is in house, the agency can test drugs within minutes.  "It would take maybe a day or two for somebody to come out," said Chad Chumbley, DEA Supervisory Forensic Chemist. "We are able to respond right away and help out." DRUG-SMUGGLING BOAT STRUCK BY US WAS CARRYING MORE THAN A TON OF COCAINE Since federal prosecutors determine charges based on what the drug is and how much of it an agent seizes, the DEA chemists w...

North Carolina family still recovering a year after Hurricane Helene destroyed home

Nearly one year ago, Hurricane Helene downgraded to a tropical storm and surged right through Western North Carolina, destroying over 74,000 homes and causing around $60 billion in damages, according to the governor's office. Some families are still trying to figure out how to move forward a year after the storm.  "My entire 20th year of life has been recovering from a storm," Amiyah Keele said while reflecting on the past 12 months with her mother, Jessica. The Keeles currently live in a camper on a property in Burnsville, North Carolina, after Helene sent about four feet of water through their home on Sept. 27, 2024. Their camper is right next to a house with other family members. RESIDENTS DETAIL 'HORRIFIC' STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA AFTER HURRICANE HELENE The Keeles first spoke with FOX back in November, while they were stocking up on fuel for their generators.  "The water was too high and too fast, like we - just made it out," Amiyah said. DNA evidence cracks cold case, connects dead suspect to murders of 4 teens at Austin yogurt shop

Investigators have identified a suspect in a Texas quadruple murder cold case more than three decades old.  Police in Austin said on Friday that they had linked Robert Eugene Brashers to the murders of four teen girls at a yogurt shop in 1991 through DNA.  Brashers, who committed suicide in 1999, was also suspected of being a serial predator at the time, according to the Austin American-Statesman.  He was convicted of attempted murder after shooting a woman in the head in 1985, and was sentenced to 12 years in prison. He was released in 1989 after only serving three years in prison, the Statesman reported.  BRYAN KOHBERGER SAYS HE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH 4 MENTAL DISORDERS BEFORE GUILTY PLEA: REPORT He fatally shot himself following a police standoff at a motel where he had been hiding with his wife, daughter and two stepdaughters, after releasing them from the motel. DNA evidence also linked Brashers after his death to three rapes and murders in Missouri and Sou...

EXCLUSIVE: Immigration agent reveals ‘biggest fear’ after deadly anti-ICE shooting

EXCLUSIVE : After a fatal anti-ICE shooting in Dallas this week, a special federal agent working on deportations revealed that their "biggest fear" is that they will be left stranded by sanctuary jurisdictions in the face of third-party rioters "who have been riled up to believe that I'm kidnapping somebody." In an interview with Fox News Digital, the agent, who works in New England, said that interference from protesters who have been radicalized by Democrats’ anti-ICE rhetoric has become a regular occurrence. Amid these interferences, the agent said that they receive very little support from local and state law enforcement, whose hands are tied due to Democratic-passed sanctuary policies . The result is an extremely tense situation, which the agent fears could get out of hand at any moment. "My biggest fear is third parties who have been riled up to believe that I'm kidnapping somebody, I'm taking away their rights, and I'm destroying some...

I’m a gender detransitioner. I told the FTC how doctors abused their power over me

This summer, I, alongside several fellow detransitioners, spoke to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) about how the medical establishment lied to us as children.     We were told we could become members of the opposite sex if only we took the puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones they prescribed us and underwent surgeries to remove healthy body parts.   That was a lie. No one can switch sexes.    THERE IS NOTHING COMPASSIONATE ABOUT PROVIDING SO-CALLED GENDER-AFFIRMING CARE Our parents were told we would kill ourselves if they didn’t sign on to these medical and surgical regimens.  That was a lie, too. There is no evidence that transgender-identifying people commit suicide if they are not affirmed, despite activists’ claims to the contrary.  The FTC’s job is to go after "unfair and deceptive practices" in trade — and what I have experienced from the medical establishment is about as unfair and deceptive as it gets. After hearing stories ...

Seahawks stave off Cardinals with game-winning field goal in thrilling win on the road

The Seattle Seahawks held off their NFC West rival, the Arizona Cardinals, in a 23-20 victory on the road on Thursday night. The Seahawks improved to 3-1 to start the early season, while the Cardinals fell to 2-2.  There wasn’t much coming from the Cardinals’ offense in this game, but the fourth quarter made the game very interesting as Kyler Murray finally got some momentum going.  CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM Marvin Harrison Jr., who was having a rough game at that point, was trusted by Murray on a pass to the end zone, and he hauled it in over Seahawks cornerback Devon Witherspoon to make it a one-score game after the extra point.  Sam Darnold and the Seahawks, owning a 20-13 lead, knew they could seal victory with a long drive, killing clock and making it a two-score game. It looked like that was coming when Jaxon Smith-Njigba caught a 36-yard pass on third-and-6 to get into Cardinals territory.  But three plays later, Jason Myers w...

America’s breaking point: Why 2026 could bury Democrats for a generation

We are at a crossroads. A grieving nation demands answers, yet Democrats stand defiantly with chaos. As the adage reminds us, actions have consequences. The 2026 elections and beyond will be a reckoning for the Democratic Party, already on the wrong side of America. On every major issue, from crime to immigration to cultural disconnect, Democrats' embrace of far-left radicalism is alienating voters and paving the way for another crushing defeat. Public fear of crime continues to surge, yet Democrats deny and dismiss voters’ concerns, cementing their status as a permanent minority party, out of touch, indifferent and forgetful of whom they were elected to serve. Their downfall is evident. Very few Democrats have the courage to confront reality , but Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) does. He sees that his party’s denial of America’s concerns is unsustainable and is sounding the alarm to change course. This month he warned that Democrats have "forgotten why we lost" in 2024, urg...
