Portland mayor demands ICE leave city after federal agents use tear gas on protesters 'Sickening decisions'

The mayor of Portland, Oregon , is calling on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to leave his city after federal agents deployed tear gas at a crowd of demonstrators, including young children, outside an ICE facility over the weekend. Mayor Keith Wilson characterized the protests on Saturday as peaceful, as federal agents reportedly used tear gas, pepper balls, flash-bang grenades and rubber bullets against the anti-ICE demonstrators. Wilson urged ICE agents to resign and for the agency to leave Portland, denouncing their "use of violence" and the "trampling of the Constitution." "Today, federal forces deployed heavy waves of chemical munitions, impacting a peaceful daytime protest where the vast majority of those present violated no laws, made no threat, and posed no danger to federal forces," he said in a statement on Saturday. Researchers pinpoint source of black hole's 3,000-light-year-long jet stream using enhanced telescope network

Scientists have traced a 3,000-light-year-long cosmic jet streaming out from the first black hole ever imaged to its likely source point with the help of "significantly enhanced coverage" from the global Event Horizon Telescope, a new study published this week revealed. The findings, published in the journal "Astronomy & Astrophysics" on Wednesday, could help pinpoint exactly from where and how black holes launch vast cosmic jets that travel at nearly the speed of light. M87 is a supermassive black hole located in the Messier 87 Galaxy around 55 light years from Earth, and is 6.5 billion times larger than the sun. The first image of M87 was released to the public in 2019, after the data was collected by the Event Horizon Telescope in 2017. DISCOVER THE UNIVERSE'S OLDEST BLACK HOLES, DEFYING THE MYSTERIES OF SPACE Not only is the black hole supermassive, "it's also active," Dr. Padi Boyd of NASA explained in a video about the discovery of...

Trump says Iran 'seriously talking to us' as military ships head to Middle East

President Donald Trump said Saturday he believes Iran is negotiating "seriously" with the U.S., stressing that he hopes an "acceptable" deal can be brokered. The president's comments were made as he reportedly weighs options on a possible military strike on Iran amid widespread protests and a violent crackdown in the country. When asked by a reporter aboard Air Force One whether he had decided on a strike against Iran, Trump responded, "I certainly can't tell you that." "But we do have very big, powerful ships heading in that direction," he added. "I hope they negotiate something that's acceptable." IRAN WILL RETALIATE 'WITH EVERYTHING WE HAVE' IF US ATTACKS, SENIOR DIPLOMAT WARNS The president then sidestepped a question about whether Tehran would be emboldened if the U.S. opted not to launch strikes on Iran, saying, "Some people think that. Some people don’t." "You could make a negotiated de...

Trump unloads on ‘radical left’ as he stands by Kristi Noem amid immigration enforcement unrest

President Donald Trump offered renewed support for Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem on Friday, saying she has done a "great job" amid ongoing nationwide immigration protests. In a lengthy post on Truth Social, Trump accused "radical left" activists of targeting Noem while touting what he described as historic gains in border security and public safety under his administration. "The Radical Left Lunatics, Insurrectionists, Agitators, and Thugs, are going after Kristi Noem, the Secretary of Homeland Security, because she is a woman, and has done a really GREAT JOB!" Trump wrote Friday evening. "The Border disaster that I inherited is fixed, the violent criminals that were allowed into our Country through Sleepy Joe’s 'sick' Open Border Policy, are largely gone, or being strongly sought for purposes of removal, and the Murder Rate in the USA just reached the lowest level in history, 125 years!"
